Rimu Hub has had a closer look at their Revising learning muscle over the last two weeks. Rimu watched a video about a young boy called Austen and identified the importance of revision and editing.
Take a look:
We noticed that Austen made many drafts each time making improvements from the feedback which was very specific.
Rimu had their own go at revising some poorly written sentences about the Olympics. They corrected spelling, added punctuation and decorated their work to make some great improvements.

Olympics- Silver for Women's Rugby
Today we were lucky enough to be able to watch the Women's 7's rugby final in our hub. The kids were allowed to watch, or carry on with their learning tasks.
It was a very quick and exciting game, with lots of intensity shown by both teams. Unfortunately, we lost the match, but luckily it meant we still won a silver medal! And we got to see it live at school.
So lucky!
You can see from the pictures below that it was a pretty exciting match with some good and not so good parts.

Olympic Immersion
We have just begun our Olympic project based learning. For the first week, in our learning buddy groups, we completed nine immersion activities to build our knowledge of nine different aspects of the Olympics. We learnt a lot about the Olympics and we exercised our collaboration learning muscles working together. Following this, we got our own research time before choosing our own Olympic-based topic.

Robotics Day 1

Ethan and his LEGO robot! |
Today we had our first sessions of Robotics! It was run by Scott Groombridge from Robots in Schools. We used instructions from the iPad app to build our first robot with LEGO. It was a lot of fun. The students stretched their collaboration learning muscles working together. They had to really use their noticing muscles to follow the instructions. We were all absorbed in our learning. Here is a video with photos from the 9:00 group.
Learning Muscles
Term Three has just begun and already we have seen some great learning muscles in action. We have started the term with learning buddy groups strengthening our collaboration learning muscles to work together and find information about the Olympics. We have also seen some great absorption and noticing learning muscles being used about the classroom. Keep up the great work Rimu!

Bommy-Knocker Problems
There has been a big problem at school this week. The bommy-knockers are out of control!
The trees are full of them, and the bike track is covered, making it really hard to use, especially for the younger students.
The boys that are left over during kapahaka time decided to help solve this problem for everyone by going outside to relocate the bommy-knockers. This was a massive task for the boys- and a likely ongoing problem.
The boys picked up many many bommy-knockers, and enjoyed giving back to the school. We even got to see some younger students using the bike track again!
Well done to all of the helpers!
Here are some of them.
